We met our guide (rmb$30) just after the entrance. Actually i never expected that guides will be available. But anyway, that was certainly the day's first GOOD decision - to engage her service. After she rattled the story of Emperor Qin, we flooded her with our questions. haha... it really not easy to earn our dollar. i still recalled that we were so captured by her history-telling and we werent bothered with the freezing chilly-wind. We stood by the respective board and listened attentively...
We both heard many details, but cant remember the whole episode... i just know that when she pointed something to our attention, we will go, Woah.. Woah.. Hmm... Really... Wooo.... Emperor Qin started building his tomb the year he ascended on the throne. It took 38 years to complete the construction.
Pix above: In addition, Emperor Qin simplified the written Chinese script, standardized weights and measures, and minted new copper coins. He took them to his graves too.
Pix Left: Are the tools found, supposed they were used during the construction.
Pix Right: Excavation found proper underground piping system. His engineers took care of possible underground flooding issue too.
Pix Left: Seals of the peasants who build the tomb.
Pix Right: And Yes, he took weapons with him too.
Pix Left: These were the roof, corner stone design. He was so particular to that extend.
Pix Right: Were the flooring bricks used to pave the tomb.
Pix Left: This skull was discovered and according to our guide, it should be one of the brothers of Emperor's Qin. The circled represented that the deceased was speared from his right ear.
Pix Right: He loved beautiful animals and ordered them (parrots, peacock) to be buried into pottery coffins.
Pix above: Many laborers died of hardship during its construction, those who tried to escape were captured and brutally cut into halves and thrown into half-length-size burial pits. When the work was eventually finished, all the workmen were entombed along with the emperor in order to keep the location a secret.
Pix Left: Yes, He took a team of acrobat artist to his tomb too.
Pix Right: Superior Charcoal Plated Jade armor and helmet is believed to maintain good health for the emperor.

Pix Left: Only the Imperial family can use huge bronze altar container for their worship to gods.
Pix Right: He loved horses too... and Yes, in his tomb.

Pix above: While we were chatting away when stepping up to the top, our guide incidentally knew that we were from Singapore and she told us that in 1976, when Mr KY Lee visited the mausoleum, the path was just earth dust. (Because Emperor Qin ordered to have the whole mountain surface earth "wok-fried", so that no plant will flourish, meaning that no plants/trees can grow on his tomb "above him") He felt that the place needs preservation and maintenance, so out of his own wallet, he sponsored this brick path for the future visitors... and again, we went.. Woo.....
